On December 7th, 2016, a loss prevention officer (LP) at a jewelry store witnessed an incident where a female suspect was caught trying to steal merchandise in the store. The suspect was identified as the stepdaughter of the store owner. Initially, the theft went unnoticed but was later brought to the attention of the LP officer who confronted the suspect. The associate present at the time described the suspect's actions as disrespectful and in violation of the store's policies.

As the LP officer detained the suspect, she became belligerent and threatened to have the officer fired if he did not let her go. However, the LP officer remained firm in his stance and refused to back down. He logically concluded that it would be in his best interest not to involve the police in this matter, hoping that his handling of the situation might lead to a promotion instead.

As per protocol, the incident was recorded on November 7th, 2016, and deemed "solved" without further escalation. This seemingly minor incident highlights the importance of strict adherence to store policies and the prevalence of shoplifting, even from those within the owners' family.
